In August last year, a father from Beijing, surnamed Hu, was found to be a compatible donor of his 5 year old son who was suffering from leukaemia. However, in May this year, the father abruptly refused to donate his bone marrow and stopped paying any child support to his son.
The mother, who was also found to be compatible(but not the most compatible compared to the father) to donate the blood marrow also chose not to donate her blood marrow to her son. The doctor said the boy’s life could have been saved if his father could donate his bone marrow.
Later, the boy has died of complications arising from leukaemia after both of his parents refused to donate their bone marrow to him.
The father did not attend his son’s funeral after the death.
